Join a hands-on, family-friendly community conversation about the future of forests in the Blue Mountains on August 5th in Baker City.
You’ll explore how different options could shape the landscape, what that means for your community, and how your questions, values, and comments can help guide the direction of the plan revision.
No prior knowledge needed; just bring your questions and perspective!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
During the event, you’ll rotate through small-group discussion stations focused on key topics in the Blue Mountain Forest Plan like forest health, riparian areas, and wildfire resilience. At each stop, you’ll:
Learn the basics of the topic
Explore real tradeoffs and management scenarios
Share your values, questions, and concerns
Hear from neighbors, landowners, and local experts
Learn how to comment on the forest plan
Bring the family! Food and refreshments will be provided.
The Blue Mountain Forest Plan will help guide the management of the Wallowa-Whitman, Umatilla, and Malhuer National Forests for decades to come. The public comment period on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement is open from July 2 through September 30, 2026.
Community members who cannot attend a Campfire Conversation are still encouraged to review the proposed plan and participate in the public comment process.
